Lorlatinib (Lorviqua) is an oral tyrosine kinase inhibitor primarily indicated for the treatment of specific types of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It provides a crucial therapeutic option for patients with advanced lung cancer who harbor certain gene mutations.

What Are the Indications for Lorlatinib (Lorviqua)?

Primary Indications

Lorlatinib has a well-defined targeted therapy indication, which is mainly for adult patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Its administration is conditional on the confirmation that the patient’s tumor is anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-positive, using a testing method approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Dosage Forms and Appearance of Lorlatinib (Lorviqua)

25 mg Tablet

Tablets of this dosage form are round, with a diameter of 8 mm, and tan in color.

They are immediate-release tablets, engraved with "Pfizer" on one side and marked with "25" and "LLN" on the other side.

100 mg Tablet

Tablets of this dosage form are oval-shaped, measuring 8.5 mm × 17 mm, and lavender in color.

Also formulated as immediate-release tablets, they are engraved with "Pfizer" on one side and marked with "LLN100" on the other side.

Precautions

Tablets of both dosage forms are designed to be swallowed whole, and should not be chewed, crushed, or split.

Tablets that are broken, cracked, or incomplete should not be taken.

The medication is packaged in child-resistant bottles. Common packaging configurations include 30 or 120 tablets per bottle for the 25 mg strength, and 30 tablets per bottle for the 100 mg strength.

Storage Conditions for Lorlatinib (Lorviqua)

Storage Temperature

Storage at room temperature between 20°C and 25°C (68°F and 77°F) is recommended.

Short-term storage at temperatures ranging from 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F) is permitted during transportation or temporary carrying.

Storage Environment

The medication should be kept in its original packaging bottle, placed in a dry place, and protected from direct sunlight and moisture.

Ensure the bottle cap is tightly closed to take advantage of its child-resistant feature.

Safe Storage

All medications must be stored out of the reach and sight of children and pets to prevent accidental ingestion.
