Almogran (Almotriptan) is a selective serotonin receptor agonist belonging to the triptan class of drugs, specifically indicated for the acute treatment of migraine attacks.

Indications for Almogran (Almotriptan)

Treatment of Migraine in Adults

Almogran is indicated for adult patients with a history of migraine with or without aura, for the acute relief of migraine attacks.

It works by activating 5-HT1B/1D receptors, which causes constriction of intracranial blood vessels and inhibits the release of neuropeptides in the trigeminal nervous system, thereby blocking the pain transmission pathway of migraines.

Treatment of Migraine in Adolescents

This medication can be used for the acute treatment of migraine headache pain in adolescents aged 12 to 17 years, but the following conditions must be met: the patient has a history of migraine with or without aura, and untreated migraine attacks usually last 4 hours or longer.

It is particularly important to note that: the drug can only be used after a clear diagnosis of migraine is confirmed.

Its efficacy in relieving migraine-related symptoms in adolescents (such as nausea, photophobia, and phonophobia) has not been proven.

It is not indicated for migraine prophylaxis or the treatment of cluster headaches.

Important Limitations

It must not be used for the treatment of hemiplegic or basilar migraines.

If there is no response after the first dose administration, the migraine diagnosis needs to be re-evaluated.
