Rasagiline (Azilect) is a selective and irreversible monoamine oxidase type B (MAO-B) inhibitor, and an important medication for the treatment of Parkinson's disease.

How to Purchase Rasagiline (Azilect)

Overseas Purchase

Patients may choose to consult and purchase rasagiline at hospital pharmacies or authorized retail pharmacies in countries or regions where the medication has been launched.

Since drug prices may be affected by factors such as regional differences and exchange rate fluctuations, patients need to make a budget and plan in advance before purchasing.

Purchase via Medical Service Institutions

Patients may consult domestic overseas medical service institutions that cooperate with international pharmacies or pharmaceutical companies.

These institutions can usually provide legal import channels and offer professional consultation and guidance.

Precautions for Rasagiline (Azilect)

Dosage Standards for Different Treatment Regimens

Monotherapy: The recommended dosage is 1 mg once daily.

Adjunctive therapy (without levodopa use): The recommended dosage is 1 mg once daily.

Adjunctive therapy with levodopa: The initial dosage is 0.5 mg once daily; if the clinical response is insufficient, the dosage can be increased to 1 mg once daily.

Dosage Adjustments for Special Populations

Patients taking ciprofloxacin or other CYP1A2 inhibitors: The dosage should not exceed 0.5 mg once daily.

Patients with mild hepatic impairment: The dosage should not exceed 0.5 mg once daily.

Patients with moderate to severe hepatic impairment: Use is contraindicated.

Absolutely Contraindicated Medications

Rasagiline is strictly prohibited for concurrent use with the following medications: meperidine, tramadol, methadone, propoxyphene, dextromethorphan, St. John's wort, cyclobenzaprine, or other monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors.

At least 14 days must elapse after discontinuing rasagiline before starting to use these medications.

Warnings for Severe Drug Interactions

Meperidine: Risk of serotonin syndrome exists.

Dextromethorphan: May cause psychotic episodes or abnormal behaviors.

MAO inhibitors: May lead to non-selective MAO inhibition and hypertensive crisis.

Antidepressants: Concurrent use of rasagiline with antidepressants (including SSRIs, SNRIs, triazolopyridines, tricyclic, or tetracyclic antidepressants) may trigger life-threatening serotonin syndrome.
