Cholinergic Adverse Events Predominate

The most frequently reported adverse reactions include nausea, vomiting, anorexia, dyspepsia, asthenia, dizziness, and weight loss, with higher incidence during dose titration. Severe gastrointestinal events can lead to dehydration and, rarely, serious outcomes such as esophageal rupture. Dermatological reactions, including allergic dermatitis, and exacerbation of parkinsonian symptoms may occur. Cardiovascular effects such as bradycardia and syncope, as well as rare seizures and urinary obstruction, have been reported. Discontinuation rates due to adverse events are higher at therapeutic doses. Monitoring and patient education are critical to minimize risks and ensure safe use.
