Fostamatinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, mainly used to treat certain types of blood diseases, and has a certain effect in clinical practice. This article will discuss in detail the indications, usage and dosage of Fostamatinib to help patients understand this drug more comprehensively.

Indications of Fostamatinib

Fostamatinib is a targeted drug that is suitable for the treatment of the following diseases:

Indications

Fostamatinib is suitable for the treatment of adult patients with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) who have not responded well to previous treatments. Fostamatinib has shown a certain efficacy in the treatment of thrombocytopenia. Fostamatinib inhibits the tyrosine kinase Syk in the patient's body, reduces the autoimmune destruction of platelets, and increases the platelet count. Clinical trials have shown that Fostamatinib has a significant therapeutic effect in the treatment of immune thrombocytopenia.

Usage and Dosage

When patients start treatment with Fostamatinib, they should start with a dose of 100 mg twice a day.

Dose adjustment

If the platelet count has not increased to at least 50x10^9/L after one month, the doctor may consider increasing the dose to 150mg twice a day, or a total daily dose of 300mg. If the patient has adverse reactions during the course of taking the drug and is taking the maximum dose (such as 300mg/day), the doctor may recommend a first dose reduction to 200 mg/day, or 100mg twice a day. Depending on the patient's response, further dose reduction may be required.

The doctor will use the lowest effective dose possible to maintain the platelet count at least 50 x 10^9/L according to the patient's specific situation to reduce the risk of bleeding and reduce drug side effects. When Fostamatinib is used in combination with other drugs, the dosage of the drug will be adjusted according to the specific drug interaction situation.

Medication management

The use of Fostamatinib is not affected by food. If the patient misses a dose of Fostamatinib, there is no need to make up for it, and the next dose of the drug should be taken according to the original medication plan.

Warm reminder from the captain of the medicine: Fostamatinib is a prescription drug and its use must be carried out under the guidance of a doctor. Patients should not adjust the dose or stop taking the drug on their own during treatment with Fostamatinib, so as not to affect the treatment effect or increase the risk of drug side effects. Patients should pay close attention to their own drug reactions. If any discomfort symptoms occur, they should report to the doctor in time.

Note: For internal discussion among medical personnel only. For specific medication, please consult the attending physician. Drug information may change over time. For the latest information, we recommend adding a medical consultant or consulting for free online.
