Dry eye syndrome is a common eye disorder, with patients often experiencing symptoms such as dryness, pain, burning sensation, and blurred vision in the eyes. Lifitegrast, as a new type of therapeutic drug, has attracted much attention, and its clinical trial results in effectively relieving the symptoms of dry eye syndrome are encouraging. Understanding its usage and dosage is crucial for doctors and patients to select appropriate treatment plans.

Usage and Dosage of Lifitegrast

This article will explore the usage and dosage of Lifitegrast to help medical staff better guide patients in using it and improve the treatment effect.

Recommended Dosage of Lifitegrast

Use a single-dose container to instill one drop of Lifitegrast into each eye, twice a day, with an interval of approximately 12 hours each time. The single-dose container should be discarded immediately after use for each eye.

Contact lenses should be removed before using Lifitegrast, and can be reinserted 15 minutes after use.

Steps for Using Lifitegrast

Step 1. Take out an aluminum foil bag from the Lifitegrast box. Open the packaging bag and take out the strip of single-dose containers.

Remove one single-dose container from the strip.

Step 2. Put the remaining strip of single-dose containers back into the bag.

Fold the edge to seal the packaging bag.

Step 3. Hold the Lifitegrast container upright.

Tap the top of the container until all the solution is at the bottom of the container.

Step 4. Twist off the label to open the Lifitegrast single-dose container. Ensure that the tip of the single-dose container does not touch anything to avoid contamination.

Step 5. Tilt your head back. If you cannot tilt your head, lie down.

Step 6. Gently pull down the lower eyelid and look upward.

Step 7. Bring the tip of the Lifitegrast single-dose container close to the eye, but be careful not to let it touch the eye.

Step 8. Gently squeeze the single-dose container to allow one drop of Lifitegrast to fall into the space between your lower eyelid and the eye. If the eye drops miss the eye, try again.

Step 9. Repeat steps 5-8 for the other eye. There is enough Lifitegrast in one single-dose container for both eyes. After instilling one drop in each eye, discard the opened single-dose container and any remaining solution.
