Avacopan (Tavneos) is a prescription medication used for the treatment of antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis, and must be used strictly as directed by a doctor.

How to Purchase Avacopan (Tavneos)

Overseas Purchase

Patients may choose to consult and purchase the medication at hospital pharmacies or licensed drugstores in countries or regions where Avacopan is marketed.

Since drug prices may be affected by factors such as regional differences and exchange rate fluctuations, patients need to make a budget and plan in advance before purchasing.

Purchase through Medical Service Institutions

Patients can consult domestic overseas medical service institutions that cooperate with international pharmacies or pharmaceutical companies.

These institutions usually provide legal import channels and can offer professional consultation and guidance.

Precautions for Purchasing Avacopan (Tavneos)

Contraindications and Risk Assessment

Contraindications: Contraindicated in patients with a severe allergy to avacopan or its excipients; also contraindicated in patients with active, uncontrolled hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection.

Liver Function Monitoring: Indicators such as alanine transaminase (ALT) and aspartate transaminase (AST) need to be tested regularly before and during treatment. If there is a significant increase in liver enzymes (> 3 times the upper limit of normal), the medication should be suspended.

Medication Use in Special Populations

Pregnancy and Lactation: Contraindicated during pregnancy. Contraceptive measures are required during treatment and after discontinuation of the medication. The safety of use during lactation is unknown, and a careful weighing of pros and cons is recommended.

Hepatic and Renal Impairment: No dosage adjustment is needed for patients with mild to moderate liver impairment; use should be avoided in patients with severe liver impairment (Child-Pugh Class C); no dosage adjustment is needed for patients with renal impairment.

Drug Interactions

CYP3A4 Inhibitors: When used concomitantly with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., itraconazole), the dosage should be reduced to 30 mg once daily.

CYP3A4 Inducers: Concomitant use with strong CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., rifampicin) should be avoided, as this may lead to decreased efficacy of Avacopan.

How to Identify the Authenticity of Avacopan (Tavneos)

Package and Label Inspection

The capsules are of the 10 mg strength, opaque, and bicolored (yellow and orange), marked with black printed "CCX168".

The packaging bottle must be properly sealed, and labeled with the batch number, expiration date, and manufacturer information (ChemoCentryx, Inc. / Amgen).

Drug Traceability Verification

Official Channels: Verify the authenticity by contacting the manufacturer (Amgen) using the traceability code on the package.

Cold Chain Records: Genuine products require temperature-controlled records during transportation; patients may request to check the delivery temperature data.

Identification of Abnormal Situations

Differences in Adverse Reactions: Counterfeit drugs may cause atypical side effects (e.g., unrecorded severe allergies or ineffective treatment).

Abnormal Packaging: Blurred labels, inconsistent capsule colors, or damaged seals are all suspicious signs.

Note: For internal discussion among medical personnel only. For specific medication, please consult the attending physician. Drug information may change over time. For the latest information, we recommend adding a medical consultant or consulting for free online.
