Warnings and Monitoring

A cardiovascular evaluation, including an echocardiogram, is mandatory before initiation to rule out valvular disease. Use is contraindicated in patients with uncontrolled hypertension, known hypersensitivity to ergot derivatives, or a history of cardiac, pleural, pulmonary, or retroperitoneal fibrotic disorders. Patients should be monitored for signs of fibrosis, hypotension, and the emergence of compulsive behaviors during therapy.
