What is the recommended dosage of fidaxomicin?

(1) Adult patients

The recommended dose of fidaxomicin is one 200mg fidaxomicin tablet, taken twice a day for 10 consecutive days.

(2) Pediatric patients (6 months to under 18 years of age)

① Tablets: For pediatric patients weighing at least 12.5kg and able to swallow tablets, the recommended dose is one 200mg fidaxomicin tablet, taken orally twice a day for 10 days. 

② Oral suspension: The recommended dose of oral suspension for pediatric patients is based on body weight. Fidaxomicin oral suspension is taken orally twice a day for 10 days, and an oral dosing syringe can be used for administration if desired.

How should fidaxomicin be taken?

Fidaxomicin needs to be administered orally and can be taken with or without food. When taking fidaxomicin, you can directly take a 200mg tablet, or use granules to make an oral suspension. The drug dose when reconstituted is 40mg/ml (200mg/5ml).
