Dosage and Administration

Dosage varies based on indication, patient age, and platelet count. For chronic liver disease patients before a procedure, a 5-day course is started 10-13 days pre-procedure, with dosage (40mg or 60mg daily tablets) based on baseline platelet count. For chronic immune thrombocytopenia in adults and children 6+, treatment starts with 20mg tablets once daily, with adjustments to maintain platelet counts. For children 1 to under 6 years, treatment starts with 10mg sprinkle granules once daily. Both formulations must be taken with food, and the tablets and sprinkle are not interchangeable mg-for-mg. Dose adjustments are necessary with certain concomitant medications.
