Sertraline (Sertraline Hydrochloride Tablets) was first developed by Pfizer in the United States and first launched in the UK in 1990, when it was approved as the only drug for preventing recurrence of depression.
Sertraline entered the Chinese market in 1996 and has been applied in the Chinese market for more than 24 years. Clinically, sertraline is mainly used for the treatment of depression, including depressive states accompanied by anxiety or mania.
Sertraline belongs to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and its main mechanism of action is related to the inhibition of serotonin reuptake in central neurons. By inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin, it enhances the function of serotonin in neural transmission, exerting antidepressant and antianxiety effects.
Sertraline tablets should be taken orally once daily, one tablet (50mg) each time, either in the morning or evening. It can be taken with food or alone.
