Lisinopril (Longes) is a commonly prescribed medication that belongs to the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor class. It is widely used for the treatment of hypertension and chronic heart failure.

What are the indications for Lisinopril (Longes)?

Hypertension

(1) This product is indicated for the treatment of hypertension in adults and children aged 6 years and older.

(2) For adults, the usual oral dosage is 10-20 mg (calculated as the anhydrous form) once daily, which may be adjusted based on age and symptoms.

(3) For patients with severe hypertension or those with renal impairment, it is recommended to initiate treatment with a low dose of 5 mg.

(4) For pediatric patients, the usual oral dosage is 0.07 mg/kg (calculated as the anhydrous form) once daily, with the total daily dose not exceeding 20 mg.

Chronic Heart Failure (Mild to Moderate)

(1) This product is indicated for patients with mild to moderate chronic heart failure when treatment with foundational therapies such as digitalis preparations or diuretics remains insufficient.

(2) This product is not intended for use as monotherapy and must be used in combination with the aforementioned foundational treatments.

Lisinopril (Longes) Specifications and Characteristics

Drug Specifications and Composition

(1) Lisinopril 5 mg tablets: Each tablet contains 5.45 mg of Lisinopril Hydrate, Japanese Pharmacopoeia grade (equivalent to 5 mg of the anhydrous form).

(2) Lisinopril 10 mg tablets: Each tablet contains 10.9 mg of Lisinopril Hydrate (equivalent to 10 mg of the anhydrous form).

(3) Lisinopril 20 mg tablets: Each tablet contains 21.8 mg of Lisinopril Hydrate (equivalent to 20 mg of the anhydrous form).

(4) All tablet strengths contain D-mannitol, Calcium dihydrogen phosphate hydrate, Corn starch, Pregelatinized starch, and Magnesium stearate as excipients. The 20 mg tablet additionally contains Yellow ferric oxide as a coloring agent.

Appearance and Identification Features

(1) 5 mg tablet: A white, scored, oblong tablet. Approximate dimensions: major axis ~7.5 mm, minor axis ~4.5 mm, thickness ~2.4 mm, weight ~0.11 g. The tablet is printed with the identification code "Longes/5".

(2) 10 mg tablet: A white, scored, oblong tablet. Approximate dimensions: major axis ~9.3 mm, minor axis ~5.6 mm, thickness ~3.3 mm, weight ~0.21 g. The tablet is printed with the identification code "Longes/10".

(3) 20 mg tablet: A pale yellow, scored, oblong tablet. Approximate dimensions: major axis ~9.3 mm, minor axis ~5.6 mm, thickness ~3.5 mm, weight ~0.22 g. The tablet is printed with the identification code "Longes/20".

Lisinopril (Longes) Storage Method

Storage Conditions

(1) This product should be stored at room temperature. Avoid direct sunlight, high temperature and humidity (e.g., bathrooms, near kitchen sinks), and do not store in the freezer compartment of a refrigerator.

(2) The expiration period is 3 years from the date of manufacture. Please be sure to use the product before the expiry date printed on the packaging.

Other Precautions

(1) Keep the medication out of the reach and sight of children to prevent accidental ingestion.

(2) When taking the medication, always remove the tablet from the aluminum blister pack (PTP packaging) before consumption. Must never swallow the tablet together with the aluminum foil sheet, as the sharp edges of the foil may injure the esophagus and cause serious complications.

(3) Do not use if the physical characteristics of the product have changed (e.g., discoloration, moisture, damage).
