Scientific and proper storage is the key to ensuring the stable quality and sustained efficacy of Difamist cream.
I. Standard Storage Conditions
1. Temperature and Storage Location
(1) This product should be stored at room temperature, typically between 20°C and 25°C.
(2) Short-term storage within the range of 15°C to 30°C is permissible, but prolonged exposure to excessively high or low temperatures is not recommended.
(3) Do not place the cream in a freezer or in a car exposed to summer sunlight, as extreme low or high temperatures may destroy the cream's base structure and drug stability.
2. Protection from Light and Moisture
(1) The cream should be stored in a location that effectively avoids direct sunlight, and kept away from damp or high-heat areas such as kitchen stoves and bathrooms.
(2) Light and moisture can accelerate excipient oxidation and drug degradation, potentially causing discoloration, hardening, or oil-water separation of the cream.
3. Package Seal Management
(1) After each use, immediately wipe off any residual cream from the thread area of the tube nozzle, then tighten the cap securely to ensure the nozzle is completely sealed.
(2) This practice reduces air entry into the tube, delays oxidation of the base, and prevents dust or microbial contamination of the remaining cream inside.
II. Standard Management During Use
1. Application Method and Cross-Contamination
(1) It is recommended to squeeze the tube body to extrude the cream; do not use cotton swabs or other tools to reach into the tube for scooping, as this may introduce skin bacteria into the tube and contaminate the entire cream.
(2) Dispense only enough cream to cover the affected area each time; do not extrude excessive amounts to avoid backflow of unused cream into the tube.
2. Nozzle Cleaning After Application
(1) After applying the cream, before tightening the cap, gently wipe the rim of the nozzle with a clean tissue to remove any adhered cream.
(2) Residual cream accumulated at the nozzle over time may dry out and harden, compromising the seal and potentially breeding bacteria.
3. Precautions for Carrying Outdoors
(1) If you need to take the cream out, place it in a shaded, non-crushed position inside your bag, and avoid storing it together with heat sources such as hand warmers or hot water bottles.
(2) Short-term outdoor temperature fluctuations generally do not affect efficacy, but do not leave the cream in a car or in direct sunlight for extended periods.
III. Expiry Date and Safe Disposal
1. Expiry Date and Identification of Deterioration
(1) The expiry date is printed on the outer packaging and the crimp end of the tube; expired products must not be used.
(2) In addition, if any of the following changes in characteristics are observed, discontinue use even if within the expiry date: the cream color changes from white or off-white to yellow or darker shades; obvious granularity, hardening, layering, or oil-water separation appears in the texture; an abnormal rancid odor is detected upon opening the cap.
2. Disposal of Expired and Invalid Medication
(1) Expired Difamist cream should not be discarded into sewers or household waste.
(2) It is recommended to squeeze the cream into waste paper or old newspapers, wrap it securely, and then place it into non-recyclable trash bins.
(3) You may inquire at pharmacies or community medical institutions whether they have expired drug collection points, and dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner according to local regulations.
3. Child Safety Protection
(1) All medications, including this product, must be stored in a place that is out of children's sight and reach, such as on a high shelf or in a locked cabinet, and not on bedside tables, coffee tables, or other locations easily accessible to children.
(2) It is also advisable to inform caregivers of the storage location of the medication to prevent accidental ingestion or injury.
