Proper storage is the key to maintaining the efficacy and sterility of Vizz. The following explains three aspects: refrigeration guidelines, management after removal from the cold chain, and packaging and waste disposal.
I. Standard Requirements for Refrigerated Storage
1. Strictly Controlled Temperature Range
(1) Unopened Vizz must be stored in the refrigerator compartment at a temperature maintained between 2°C and 8°C.
(2) This temperature range ensures the viscosity of the solution and the chemical stability of the active ingredient, aceclidine.
(3) It is recommended to use a refrigerator-specific thermometer for regular monitoring to avoid temperature fluctuations caused by frequent door opening or refrigeration malfunctions.
2. Freezing Prohibited
(1) The solution must not be placed in the freezer or in direct contact with ice packs.
(2) Freezing causes separation of the aqueous phase and excipients; upon thawing, precipitation, layering, or degradation of the active ingredient may occur. Even if the appearance returns to clarity, efficacy and safety are already compromised.
(3) If accidental freezing occurs, the entire unit must be discarded and must not be used after thawing.
3. Shelf Life under Refrigerated Conditions
Under continuous compliance with 2°C to 8°C, this product may be stored until the expiry date printed on the packaging.
4. Temperature Excursion Allowance during Transport
(1) During logistics and delivery, this product is permitted to be briefly exposed to temperatures not exceeding 40°C for a cumulative period of no more than 8 days.
(2) This provision applies only to the transport phase and is not considered a routine storage condition.
(3) If the received product shows a temperature-indicator alert or any abnormality on the packaging, consult the pharmacy or manufacturer.
II. Time and Condition Management after Removal from the Cold Chain
1. Initiation Point for Room-Temperature Storage
(1) Once the entire pouch (aluminum foil bag) or individual unit is removed from the refrigerator, it is considered out of the cold chain.
(2) Thereafter, the product may be stored at room temperature not exceeding 25°C, but must be used within 30 days.
(3) It is recommended to mark the date of removal on the packaging to track remaining days.
2. Do Not Return to Refrigeration
Product that has been removed from the cold chain and stored at room temperature, regardless of time remaining, must never be placed back into the refrigerator.
3. Planning for Single Withdrawal Quantities
(1) Based on a dosage of two drops per eye daily, with each unit containing 0.4 mL, each unit is sufficient for only one use.
(2) Avoid frequent repeated removal and return of the entire box to minimize temperature fluctuations.
III. Post-Opening and Disposal Guidelines
1. Open and Use Immediately, Discard after Use
(1) Each single-dose unit is for one-time use only. Immediately after opening, complete the administration of two drops in each eye.
(2) After use, discard the unit immediately, regardless of any residual solution.
(3) This product contains no antimicrobial preservatives; bacteria may proliferate within hours after opening. Never retain for a subsequent use.
2. Do Not Repackage or Transfer
(1) Never transfer the solution from the original container to another dropper bottle, syringe, or container for later use.
(2) Transfer destroys the sterile barrier, and different materials may adsorb active ingredients or release harmful substances. Use only the original container for instillation.
3. Safe Disposal of Waste
(1) Used empty containers and packaging materials (aluminum foil bags, cartons) may be disposed of as ordinary household waste.
(2) However, ensure they are placed out of reach of children and pets to avoid being mistaken for toys or chewed.
(3) For whole boxes of expired product, no special chemical treatment is required, but it is advisable to render the containers unusable to prevent further use.
