BAVENCIO (avelumab) is a human monoclonal antibody that functions as a programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) blocking antibody. It is produced in Chinese hamster ovary cells and has an approximate molecular weight of 147 kDa. By binding to PD-L1, BAVENCIO blocks its interactions with the PD-1 and B7.1 receptors, thereby releasing inhibitory brakes on the immune response and potentially restoring anti-tumor immunity. It is formulated as a sterile, preservative-free solution for intravenous infusion and is supplied in single-dose vials.
1. Metastatic Merkel Cell Carcinoma (MCC): Treatment of adults and pediatric patients 12 years and older with metastatic MCC.
2. Locally Advanced or Metastatic Urothelial Carcinoma (UC):
Maintenance treatment for patients whose disease has not progressed following first-line platinum-containing chemotherapy.
Treatment for patients with disease progression during or following platinum-containing chemotherapy, or within 12 months of neoadjuvant/adjuvant platinum-containing chemotherapy.
3. Advanced Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC): First-line treatment, in combination with axitinib, for patients with advanced RCC.
The recommended dosage is 800 mg administered as an intravenous infusion over 60 minutes every 2 weeks for all indications.
