MIRAPEX is an oral tablet formulation containing the active moiety pramipexole dihydrochloride monohydrate, a non-ergot dopamine receptor agonist. It exhibits high specificity and full intrinsic activity at the D2 subfamily of dopamine receptors, with a particular affinity for the D3 receptor subtype. The medication is designed for managing specific neurological conditions by modulating dopaminergic pathways in the brain, leading to symptomatic relief.
Treatment of signs and symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
Treatment of moderate-to-severe primary Restless Legs Syndrome.
Parkinson’s Disease:
Initiate at 0.125 mg three times daily. Increase gradually every 5–7 days up to a maximum of 1.5 mg three times daily, based on tolerability and clinical response.
Adjust dosage in renal impairment according to creatinine clearance.
Restless Legs Syndrome:
Start with 0.125 mg once daily, 2–3 hours before bedtime. May increase every 4–7 days up to 0.5 mg daily if needed.
